In Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Data Management (EDM, the product most of us still call EDMCS), importing Oracle Financials Cloud General Ledger (FCGL) dimensions requires a ZIP file containing flat files of segment values and hierarchies. You cannot import directly from a connected Financials Cloud General Ledger application, and a single standalone CSV file isn't accepted either: it has to be the ZIP with the specific files described below.

File Format Requirements
Once the segment value and hierarchy data has been extracted from your Financials Cloud General Ledger application, build a ZIP file containing exactly two comma-delimited (CSV) files, using the exact names below; EDM won't recognize them otherwise:
GlSegmentValuesInterface.csv: contains every node in the dimension, its properties, and any global or context-sensitive descriptive flexfields attached to the segment.GlSegmentHierInterface.csv: contains the parent/child structure for each tree (by tree code and tree version) along with tree labels.
You can generate these files two ways: exporting them from your Financials Cloud General Ledger application per Oracle's support documentation, or building them manually using Oracle's ChartofAccountsSegmentValuesandHierarchiesImportTemplate.xlsm template, which lays out the exact columns EDM expects for both the segment values and hierarchy data.
Import Process
Once your ZIP file is ready, import it into EDM as follows:
- From the Applications list, find your application, click the ellipsis (⋯) button next to it, and select Import.
- Upload the ZIP file: drag and drop it, or click to browse and select it.
- Select an import mode:
- Merge: adds new nodes and updates existing property values without clearing the whole dimension first. For FCGL imports specifically, only the hierarchy sets used by trees actually included in your hierarchy file get cleared before the import runs; any trees not present in that file are left untouched.
- Replace: behaves similarly to Merge in terms of which trees are affected (only those in your hierarchy file), but expects a full, authoritative dataset for those trees rather than a partial update.
- Reset: clears every existing tree in the dimension, not just the ones in your import file, and rebuilds only the trees your file contains. This is the mode to use for a first-time import into an empty dimension.
- Click Import to run the process.
Verification
Once the import finishes, verify it by viewing the segment values and hierarchies in the Views dashboard. Segment values show up as a flat list of members, while the segment hierarchy displays as an expandable parent/child relationship list; confirm both look the way you expect before moving on to validation or subscription setup.
